Junior Certificate English: The course is taught over two years in an adult friendly way.
Students report that participating in this class has really boosted their confidence and
enabled them to start thinking realistically about further education and/or training. Classes
run Mondays & Thursdays 11.30am to 1.00pm.
Leaving Certificate English: This course is run over two years, so there is no pressure on
students to cram for examinations. The subject is taught in an environment that allows
students enjoy the material as they learn. It is adult orientated. The class will foster a love
of literature while written work is assessed on a regular basis to facilitate students who
wish to sit the examinations. However, whether you want to come out with a certificate, or
whether you just want to enjoy the class, the aim is to create a stimulating environment for
everyone. Classes run on Tuesdays 11.30 to 1pm and Fridays 9.30 to 11.00am.
Understanding History: Improve your knowledge of Irish and World History in a relaxed
setting. Class Time: Wednesdays: 11.30am to 1.00pm.
Irish Literature and Culture: Enjoy an exploration of Irish authors, playwrights, poets and
cultural history so that we can better connect with our rich heritage. Class Time: Tuesdays
11.30am to 1.00pm.
Irish: Enjoy learning Irish at a variety of levels. There is a very special Fáilte for beginners.
Our Irish for Parents course is specifically geared towards teaching parents/guardians
everyday Irish to use with their children at home. Class Times are as follows.
Beginners: Mondays 11.30am to 1.00pm.
Improvers: Thursdays 11.30am to 1.00pm.
Intermediate: Thursdays 11.30am to 1.00pm.
Advanced: Thursdays 9.30 to 11.00am
Irish for Parents: Mondays 9.30 to 11.00am
Western Europe Made Easy/Understanding the Landscape: Two opportunities to examine
and explore aspects of Geography. Class times are as follows:
Understanding the Landscape Fridays: 9.30am to 11.00am
Western Europe Made Easy Fridays: 11.30am to 1.00pm
Reading Ulysses: A unique opportunity to read this famous book in a group setting with the
support of an experienced History and English tutor. Class time: Fridays 11.30am to
1.00pm.
Book Club: Meet monthly to discuss our chosen books, learn to reflect more deeply on
them and develop critical faculties. Make new friends. Time: Tuesdays at 1.30pm.
Art History: We are offering this course in response to requests from students over the
years.
Come and enjoy the history of art in a friendly and informal setting. Class time:
Wednesday 9.30 to 11.00am.
